I really like Desiree, and her arc has been exciting and brought some novelty to the BSF. Though her part in this was small, I liked it as a step forward in her narrative, going from being on top, thrown back to the bottom. I also like that this beat makes use of her established character as a gold digger to provide motivation. Though sudden, it’s a nice beat, well constructed narratively and an exciting progression in her arc.
On the bigger picture, the sudden introduction of Hugo is also an interesting beat for the BSF as we now have a third party involved in the day-to-day operation of the BSF, which is a game changer. Unlike Tania, Desiree, or anyone else in the BSF/BWL, we cannot posit what Hugo will do going forward…he’s an unknown element, and the element of the unknown is a great way to introduce conflict, and thus generate story! Which we can already see happening here.
Going to be honest…the BSF has been holding my attention more than the BWL of late. The stories have been tighter and more engaging, and there is an aspect of novelty that is refreshing…every week is something new, and the stories are more based in character than plot. The BSF is where we see growth, the BWL is where we see action (not to imply that I am not still engaged with the BWL, just that the BSF has been so good of late).

There was one other thing I wanted to add…
Now that Louise is the champion the pressure for her to win her first STC is going be extremely high after all you can’t beat someone like Jolene who for the last year was an unstoppable force then lose right after that.
I mean that is going to make her look incredibly pathetic and not only that but it’ll show to everyone including the new boss Hugo that she won the title out of pure luck which if you look back at some of her last few matches here on BSF you’ll see that she’s been on a bit of a winning streak.
